Welcome to NICO! Most everything you ever wanted to know about the Q45 is somewhere in old threads.

You're gonna want to deal with that door ASAP. If it gets to the point where you can't get the door open, it gets much worse to try to fix.

Read the embedded links, too.

From Q45tech: both the manual [inside and key] and electrical rods are attached to lock mechanism with plastic connectors eventually these break leaving you unable to get to the mechanism without destroying the inside trim.

Door lock actuator? There's one on each door lock, trunk and fuel door. Is it the passenger front? If so, does it lock/unlock fine with the key, without the grinding noise?

yes its the pasanger front. it locks with the key. and locks with both the button and the remote. but it does not unlock with button, remote,or the key. but it does unlock if you use key on the pasanger side.

Where exactly are these and what do they look like? I suspect I have at least on bad one as the doors have a tendancy to lock themselves. I looked in the FSM and couldn't find them.

I looked in the FSM in the EL and BL sections and there's lots of troubleshooting descriptions but no real picture. I've attached one below.

You'll be able to see it easily once you remove the door panel. It's inside the door attached to the locking mechanism that contacts the striker. You have to remove the entire locking mechanism and then detach the DL actuator when its out of the door. IIRC, the window regulator and window channel have to be removed to get to it.

I'd like to here from some of the experts on this but I don't think that the Power Window Amplifier (LCU-xx) mounted in each door of the 94-96 would have anything to do with the door locks. It should only control the windows but the FSM has you checking the connection before starting the diagnosis. Tech? Wes?
