please help... need to know what this is!

Hey everyone...I have an 89 240sx. Im trying to figure out what is below/infront of the master brake cylinder, right behind the ignition coil, . im swapping in the sr20det an im not sure what that is. Any help would be appreciated.

Your probably talking about the crap with the black box and tubes that go to the exaust manifold and intake box. Thats KA emissions stuff you wont need.

j spec tuner.. its right behind that crap... it looks like a pump or something an it has a hose that goes somewhere im not sure... sorry.. i pulled out the ka a while ago an im nto sure where it went

I have an '89. I just looked real close.

The only pump thingy that should be there is AIV apparatus. Mine is gone. There should be 3 black hoses coming out of it. The 2 small black ones go toward the front of the car and the big black one runs back a bit then forward and into a metal conduit nearer the heat sheild, which if you follow runs into the down pipe. The pump is connected to the black plastic box which is connected to the air box.

The only other big black hose that runs near ther is some part of the cooling system and comes directly from the water pump then runs up and over where the engine was.

Assuming you are getting an SR20, the whole thing can be eliminated from the system and will leave no holes except for the down pipe, which should be replaced with something better as part of a full exhaust system. Plus it will clean up the engine bay some.

Someone tell me if I miss spoke.
