I want to start off by saying hello to all fellow forum members. My name is Chris and i currently drive a 1992 nissan 240sx convertible. The car has been in the family since '94 but for a few years the car was not driven(brother crashed it in '03).My dad fixed it up and have been driving it on and off for 4-5 years.
I finally took it to the dealer last week to get my headlamp fixed(hasn't worked for years)and when they did their multipoint inspection they recommended the following services:
1.Diagnose brake system light(brake system light illuminated)-cost:$107.00
2.Replace control arm bushings(worn/loose)-cost:$519.00
3.Replace rack and pinion assembly(leak at rack and pinion unit)-cost:$689.00
4.Engine oil leak-cost:$1,280.00
5.Rear differential fluid exchange(fluid level low)-cost:$109.00
6.Replace all drive belts(damaged/cracked)-cost:$170.00
7.Replace rear shock absorbers(shockers leaking)-cost:$469.00
8.Change auto transmission fluid exchange(contaminated/burnt)-cost:$190.00
Now,I don't doubt that it needs all that work.Besides basic maintenance,my dad and i haven't done much else to the car.My question for you all is,are they charging me a fair price?overcharging?Could you guys give me average prices for what each item usually cost to fix?Even if thier estimates are fair i still plan on negotiating the price down.
Thanks in Advance
