Ok, I combed through the service manual for a 1994 Pathfinder for your answer (the electrical manual for the 1995 model was corrupt and wouldn't open). I assume the 1994 and 1995 are similar.
Well, the wire you have found is not factory. According to the factory service manual, you have only one body ground in the engine compartment (located directly behind the battery). Another dead giveaway that the wire was not factory is the sheathing, Nissan would not have used a clear sheathing with stranded silver wire. I believe Nissan uses copper stranded wire and it would have been in a non-transparent sheathing.
You said the other end of the wire is not connected to anything, right? I recommend just pulling it out of the engine bay completely. If you've had no problems this far, then I think you'll be ok to remove it.
