I have a 95' SE Pathfinder...Ok so I was up under the hood of my baby the other weekend installing new bushings when I came across what I think is a grounding wire. It's connected to the body in the area between the intake filter and the windshield fluid tank.I have a missing bolt on the heat shield on my header and thought maybe it came from there except it does not reach that far.Than I thought it may be from the alternator but after talking to a few friends they say that my alternator would not work if that was so. And my baby runs jus fine. Also I don't believe it will reach.Than someone suggested that it may be for an option for the Pathfinder that was not equipped on my rig.All I know is that it goes to something, I don't know but would like to know what that something is.I don’t want to disconnect it if it has a use and would prefer it not to jus dangle there if it goes to something.Any ideas?

lol I did have it posted here but after 80 views and no replies I thought posting it in a different location might yield new results.

If you have a voltage meter, turn your car on and see if it's holding a charge. Does your car have fog lamps?

Yes i have fog light and they work fine. All the other systems are working fine so what exactly would i be testing?I'm jus looking for info... I find a factory braided cable connected to the body but not to anything else (as seen in the pics) so I'm left wondering what was it connected to, was it jus an option, or does it need to be connected to something.

Ok, I combed through the service manual for a 1994 Pathfinder for your answer (the electrical manual for the 1995 model was corrupt and wouldn't open). I assume the 1994 and 1995 are similar.

Well, the wire you have found is not factory. According to the factory service manual, you have only one body ground in the engine compartment (located directly behind the battery). Another dead giveaway that the wire was not factory is the sheathing, Nissan would not have used a clear sheathing with stranded silver wire. I believe Nissan uses copper stranded wire and it would have been in a non-transparent sheathing.

You said the other end of the wire is not connected to anything, right? I recommend just pulling it out of the engine bay completely. If you've had no problems this far, then I think you'll be ok to remove it.
