Okay i posted this in KA24de forums too but didn't get any help. I'm having problems with the timing chain dowel pin. Here's a video of what the problem is,

That's what I'm worried about, if anyone could help me out with this it would be really nice. :frown:

Does the front cover hold it in place?

Nope, idk what its called but its rod with a little magnet on the front end, i used it and pulled forward with the front cover on and it came out easily.

well JB weld it is then.... But just to make sure is it needed? Anyways thanks for the help :]

you dont want to jb weld it. that is not a great idea. what if the jb weld fails, then you have this dowel falling right on top of the timing chain and could destroy your engine. you need to make sure that it is needed or not and then decide what to do with it. if i wasnt so busy i would pull my timing cover off of my engine and look for you, but that isnt an option right now. sorry.

what you can do is get in contact with someone else that is building and engine or "rebuilding" and see what they say. maybe they have it fresh in their mind. but please dont jb weld it in there.

you can not jbweld it

have you tried tapping it in gently with a hammer? it can not be loose like that, it should be solid...

I'm not sure if it's necessary or not to have it, but i'd imagine it is.

we figured it out. its an oil squirter for the timing chain. has an oil passage through it with three pin holes that point on the timing gear.

i think that when he drilled out the old one, he used a bit that was slightly too large. it would be simple to fab a new one.
