1. I noticed on my dads 2009 Rogue the hood looks like it's not latched right or something as it looks like it bounces over bumps. Yes I did make sure to shut it good. I looked at the latch and couldn't find anything wrong. 2. It's really slow in reverse. You really have to give it some gas to back it out of any incline. 3. The front Suspension gets really clunky when hitting any kind of dip or bump in a road. It basically sounds like it crashes when it hits it. The OEM 17 inch Continentals tires have about 51,000 on them. Would appreciate any answer to these questions! Thanks.

I like to comment on the Rogue backing up on a incline. Just going down a driveway and decending can take some gas and effort on the engine. So no surprise. I'm use to it.

Okay, thanks I just didn't know if it was a common issue or not.

Hi there, I think I can help with some of your issues:

1) This is easy to adjust, there are rubber stops that are adjustable, if the hood is latched but vibrating or bouncing all you need to do is unscrew them a little bit to raise them in order to make better contact with the hood and keep things secure. If you're unsure where these are located I could take some pics for you, or your dealer could adjust this for you in less than 5 minutes.

2) This doesn't sound right, my Rogue will start to roll backward immediately after shifting into reverse, you should not have to give it any throttle/gas to get it rolling, you might want to consider having this checked by the dealer.

3) The Rogue suspension is very firm, and at 51,000 miles your stock tires are worn out. New tires will help some, but the suspension is very firm and I too get a bit of a "bang" sensation when I hit major bumps. However, it's difficult to say how loud your suspension noise is and whether or not it's normal without actually hearing it. Is this a new noise or has it always sounded like this?

The next time the car is in for oil change service, the tech's should inspect the front suspension for free, and if you mention to them that you might have a problem they can look at it in more detail. A common problem that could produce the noise you're describing is worn out sway bar end links, these are cheap to replace at around $20-$25 for parts. When these are worn you can also feel a bit of a "clunk" when you hit bumps.

I hope this helps a little bit, please let us know what you discover....

Hey, thanks man I will try these things once my dad can get a day off work. You only hear the bang/clunk sound when you hit a dip in a highway that's by our house. Can you see the sway bar links without putting the vehicle on a lift? Well I thought the suspension got worse since my dad put 20,000 miles on it at the current 51,000 miles.

Well compared to the cars in the past, there is a difference with the electric golf cart feel of the cvt.

It can be said it feels kinda weak when pressing the pedal in a way.

At least the old farts in here know what I mean. I grew up with an 8 cylinder as a kid. :spitout:

Moreover, when there is no shudder between gears, that too might make the vehicle feel laggy especially when you have a heavy foot. Judging by feel will make the car seem slower than it actually is due to lack of shift shock.

Also as quoted by Chuck Giametta (auto writer):

It can also be expected to sometimes suffer a buzzing disconnect between forward momentum and engine speed: blame a CVT’s tendency to allow the engine to rev to its most efficient rpm and stay there until vehicle speed catches up; then things quiet down.

I think it's just needing to get accustomed to the CVT because I understand how it may feel sluggish if you never experienced driving in a CVT vehicle before. It's all relative I guess. :shifter:

Yeah I see your point. I tried looking for anything that I could adjust under the hood and didn't see anything that looked like it was gonna help. I was afraid I was gonna beak tho rubber stops on the sides. I looked at the latch and it looks fine as well.

The rubber stops are what you need to adjust the hood, not the latch. They screw in and out, if the hood is sitting too low or is rattling/vibrating/moving when you hit bumps, it's a simple matter of unsrewing them a little bit (with your hands, no tools needed). Unscrewing them raises them up, making tighter contact with the hood and holding it firmly in place.

Re suspension knocks:

If you get a knocking noise at slower speeds over bumps, etc. it could be due to worn stabilizer end links. It's especially noticeable at parking lot speeds when one tire hits a bump.
