I am at a jam. I placed the plastic tipped end in the transmission thing the six bolts with all the oil in there. But once I tighten down the 6 screws the shifter will not move. It is locked in place until I losen the screws but it still doesn't go in gear. I was wondering if there is some special way of putting the new shifter in the transmission thingy. (Not much of a mechanic)

I have no clue what or where the snap ring is. I can't find an instruction manual either. Thanks for the hint though.

read my signature about the transmission, it has the diagram from the service manual, there are 2 snap rings, remove both
