started my pathfinder up and the service engine light comes on, and it was shaking bad so i cut it off for about 10 mins and started it up and it did the same thing and i was 30 miles away from home so i started driving and the service engine soon light starts flashing i then pulled over and cut the truck off then i looked at the my owners manual and it said when that happens something is up with the emissions and that i could drive no faster than 45 mph so thats what i did it got me home but when i got home i cut it off and started it back and the service engine soon light was still on but no shaking wtf!!!!!!!!

wild guess but it might be coilpacks. I think nissan switched to coilpacks starting in 01.

Check the Maf sensor, oxy sensors.

was the service engine light on before you started having the problem. maybe you can get a code read to narrow the problem down.

That happened to a Chrysler 300 - a company car. It eneded up being a transmission problem, not emissions. Take it to the dealer. The 45mph governor is a "limp home " mode.

yep that sounds like your coil packs. same exact thing happen to my 01. sometimes it would shake sometime it would drive fine. well i replace my number two coilpack and it fixed the vibration and hesitation. i would recomend replacing all of them if that is the problem. but first try replacing simple things like spark plugs.

if it is the maf sensor, it will idle low or even stall out. and driving on the highway the vehicle will sometime decrease speed on its own. or if its totally defective it will not let u rev pas 2500 rpm. not replace and fixing coilpack may lead to a defective maf. so i recommend spending the moiney and replace them all so u dont have to worry about it in the future.

it could be going into limp mode.i would go to shucks and hook it up to a ecu scanner to se if its throwing any codes. it could be as simple as a sensor being disconnected.
