Ok right now i have 1300 dollars and a 1989 240sx with body damage to the right side and a two sheered lug nuts on the front passenger wheel. so basicaly that will cost me about 200 dollars total. now after that here are my options.... one save up alittle and get the ca18det motor....two save up alot and get the sr20det motor...or three just use the money and save a little more and add exhaust and intake to my ka... if you were in this situtaion and you wanted to eventually run around 400 hp what would you do???? i really need help with this...also if you go with the ka option could you list the mods and how much horse i could get out of them??? thanx

The CA18 is only a few hundred less than an SR20. Many people like teh CA because the block is iron, which is structurally stronger. Me? I'm an SR guy. I wouldn't bother with minor bolt ons (exhaust/intake), just save and get an SR20. You'll be so happy with the SR when you get it, the wait will be well worth it. Or you can make your car .3 sec fast with exhaust and intake now. I'd just wait, get the SR20, and drop your 1/4 time by well over a second, plus its turbo'ed and the motor will only have ~30k miles.

Do teh right thing. Buy an SR. Put a downpayment with daunt, and you'll have it early next year.

Yeah from what I understand the SR does have more potential for less money. But if you want big numbers, I heard going the CA is cheaper.

The thread started out as a question about modifying an NA KA or swapping to a forced induction type. So getting opinions from people in the NA field is probably fairly important.

Since no one else replied whether or not to stay NA I guess everyone is of the same opinion. NA are slow and forced induction is the best way to make more HP for the money.

So rather then post things like this you might want to offer some advice on keeping the car NA. Since your convictions are obviously towards the NA.

As far as swapping or modding the KA goes. I'd either turbo the KA or do the swap. NA=slow...

Might want to think about doing the RB swap if going through Dauntless, you'll be one of few for awhile anyway.
