Please Help mE!! SOHC pLEASE hELP

I have a sohc 90 240sx.. the timing chain tenson broke and it stop working... i changed out the timing chain and all the parts to it and found out i had vent valves.... i got my head rebuild and everything is a ok... my problem is... it has a knocking kind of noise and it goes up when you are reveing the engine up... it also is kinda hard to start up.... it turns over like 7 times and even more sometimes to start up.... when it starts it idles fine and doesnt jump around at all..... this car has been sitting for a little over a year.... CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM THANKS PLEASE PETEND THAT I AM STUPID AND EVEN THINK OF THE BASIC THINGS JUST IN CASE I OVER LOOKED SOMETHING.... I WOULD LOVE TO GET MY CAR RUNNING AGAIN THANKS JONATHAN
