Hello,

I have been reading and doing extensive research on my Nissan 90 300zx. I bought it off of a customer for $300 but it had been sitting for 3 years. Here is the problem that I am having and what j have done so far:

Replaced cas (found broken plug connector on cas)

Before when I did the test with the cas there would be no injector tick and no spark (grounded on plenum while turning cas with key at on position) nothing at all

Replaced cas and now the radiator fan will spin randomly, which I have read the same with several others doing the test. So I don't think this is my problem

Removed ptu ohmed no problem found checked ground and continuity between ptu and ignition coils all check out and j am getting the 12 volts to coils between ground and between 2 wires in coil

The engine turns over and I know I am getting fuel to the injectors. When I remove gas cap after attempting start it is pressurized also removed line going from fuel filter and it has good pressure

So my fellow z owners what would most likely be the cause of no fire and no fuel? Checked codes and only code is 55 which I believe is normal. Why would it not know it is having a problem? I am thinking this might be ecu related since from my research only the cas and ecu are involved with the function of both the injectors and spark. My only concern is when I ohm the injectors and the coils I am getting a high reading in all of them....out of range I just have a hard time believing that every injector and every coil needs to be replaced any advice would be much appreciated

first things i would check/do

make sure timing belt isnt broken

lock and unlock the driver door with the hood, trunk, doors closed, and ignition switch turned off (my z usually needs this done if ive disconnected the battery)

try using starting fluid and see if it will fire up

pull each coil and check for spark

clean all injector terminals and recheck directly from injector terminal (if still out of range replace, all can fail)

let us know how these go

also let us know when the security light is flashing mine occasionally acts up.

Check the ecu for codes is always first.

Just because the fuel tank is pressurizing does not mean you are getting proper fuel pressure.

As stated above, check injectors with an Ohm meter. They need to be between 10-14 ohms. No more no less. If out of range replace.

Be very careful will starting fluid on a fuel injected engine, it can cause damage, extensive damage.

^in other words, spray very little. The difference should be apparent nearly instantly. ^
You do not need to keep it running or to fully start it to tell if your looking for
fuel issues.

Just DON'T use starting fluid, period. This product was made for a completely different system than fuel injection and the problems it will cause are quick and final...just don't do it. If your engine components are at 50%+ condition the car will attempt to start easily, but with ANY issues in the fuel delivery and electrical you will get nothing until it has been serviced/replaced in most cases and using a starting fluid or other methods will net you nothing but trouble.
You need to finalize the actual condition of your injectors, possibly/probably all shot as the early Z's suffer from ethanol issues in the fuel plus bad electrical connections. If there is any green buildup in the connectors that is a huge problem- clean them thoroughly or best, replace them with upgraded connectors. Same with injectors as stated, if they are out of the 10-14 ohm range they are definitely shot. This goes for nearly all of the engine controls and a few other areas that research will show you, best source is the online service manual and it's diagrams and solutions. Many/most of us here with pre-'94 Z32's have gone through this necessary hassle, and are ready to do so if not.
