We own a 1994 Infiniti J30t. A few days ago, our car starting problems began. I have tried changing the fuel pump, and filter. I was lucky enough to make it home but it wouldn't start back up. All the car would do was turn over. The fuel pump doesn't hum like it's trying to prime or anything . We bought a fuel pump relay today and all we can find is a diagram that shows it on the left side kick panel by the emergency brake. Neither myself or my wife can find it. I don't know if it's behind like the fuse panel or by the steering column. Please help us! I need to get this car back on the road.

The fuel pump relay should be underneath the hood on the driver side. If not check the other side. There will be a black box about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. I hope this helps you.

are you referring to FPCU? fuel pump control unit? or the fuel pump fuse?
I do not believe there is an actual square relay.....can you post a picture of it?

It is not the fuse under the hood. What we bought from Autozone was a relay. Not sure about the FPCU. Is that in the trunk next to the pump?

First of all, I want to thank you guys for the quick replies. This is great forum for help and information. Now back to my problem... My wife had printed off the same picture that fourdrinie gave me. Neither one of us could find the relay but we both thought it might be behind the box. Now is there any advice besides undoing the battery before taking this apart to get to the relay. Could this be something else like the FPCU? Or what should I try next. Thanks again.

I found the relay. Switched it out and unfortunately that isn't the problem. Still no noise from the pump with the key turned on. Can anyone help me with the FPCU or do you think it might be a faulty pump that I have?

The car is fixed. I went and bought a tester and was getting voltage to the pump. I returned the old pump and she starts right up. Thanks for your help again.
