Hi Folks,Can you give me your opinions of the ride and handling of the 2009 G37S vs XS?

I need to strike a balance between practicality and sportiness, like the bigger brakes/suspension of the S, but like the AWD option of the XS (and want wood trim!). Been driving sticks for a long time but could make the switch to a decent automatic.

I'm a former owner of a few Maximas including 93SE, 00SE, 02GLE (The GLE was too mushy) and now an 06 Mini Cooper S. Coming from the Mini I'm expecting to lose some in the handling department, I just don't want to be disappointed in an XS.. though at this point the XS is my sweet spot.

Please let me know how the rides compare.. THANKS!Pat

the AWD model has a slightly softer turn in, and a little more understeer, but from my experience it still handles very well. Its quite nimble for a 3800 pound car. Test drive them. then you'll know.

I have a 2008 G37S coupe. One thing I have noticed is that I can't use much throttle in corners. If VDC is on, it cuts back the power. If VDC is off, the rear comes out very quickly and I have to back off myself. A G37X may do better because power should transfer to the front wheels when the rears reach their limit. The best thing to do is test drive both and see what they do in this situation.

Thank You, for that feedback. You told me what I wanted to hear.. and am still looking at an XS. I haven't driven a RWD in many years and am concerned about letting the rear end lose in high speed turns. I'd rather grip than drift on an exit ramp..

Funny, it seems that if you load the car with high-end options you lose the technology pkg, including AFS. The moving headlamps seems like a great feature. Similarly, I miss the bright halogen turning lamps of my 93 maxima, they totally lit up the side of the road during signalled turns.
