I performed a compression test on my 212,000 mile KA24DE. Afetr I was done, I put the power plug back into the distributor, replaced all the spark plugs, and tried to start it up. I now revs to 4,000 RPMs, and I don't know what to do. I thought maybe the throttle was stuck, so I lubricated it, but that does't work. This ius my only car, so a quick reply would be very appreciated.

Ok, when I force the thtottle back on the ehgine, it returns to normal. So something must have caught in the cable somwhere, or I did soemthing to the throttle. So, anybody know how to adjust a throttle cable? BTW, Here are my compression readings. This was my first time doing a compresion check, so the first numbers are wrong I would gues, but the second ones seem right.

1. 105, 1252. 130, 1403. 120, 1254. 145, 130

What do you think?

Ok, I fixed it. Adjusted the throttle cable a little. Not hard. Anyway, what about the compresion numbers? they are really low, I think. The engine has like no power. Also, there is a loud ticking from the head, so the valves?

Ok, here is wht I did. 1. All plugs out.2. Distributer unpluged3. Puit gauge in spark pug hole, tightened like a spark plug4. Turned the car over 4 times, with the clutch and Gas pressed to the floor.5. Checked readings

If I did something to skrew up the results, please tell me. But my engine has no pickup, and I think that these results confirm bad things.

Yes, the engine was warm, I had been driving around beforehand.

No, I haven't been to any of the events at cloverleaf, I have had to work every weekend. I really want to go, though!!

if u really want a ca dont do anything. just keep it running until u get the ca. if major things start breaking then throw in a newer engine

DGtrials and i think USdrift are trying to have drifts every couple months or so there. people come from all over the east coast surprisingly. and there are auto-xs every other sunday either there or at VMP. you should go next season.

about your motor, it depends on what you really want to do, if you want a KA24DET then rebuild it and boost it. or you could swap it out for the CA which would be cool as well. what kind of budget are you working with if you dont mind me asking??

Well, I've been thinking. I will probably sell this car, and go with an S14. I'm 16, and my parents won't consider me spending that much money on my S13, so, I will go with the S14, with a lot less miles, until I have a chance to do engine work. And 240marcuSX, where are you getting your info regarding the events at cloverleaf. I would have loved to go, but I don't know where to find info.

uhmmm did you pull the plugs on your injectors or take out the fuel pump fuse? you really dont want the injectors spraying when you're trying to check the compression...

...and why did you bother taking the power off of the distrib? you've got the plugs out, they're not gonna fire I promise!

I would want at least $2200, and I would sell it when I had a S14 lined up. This is my only car, so I will need to have a Car. It is a rust free chassis- It is a perfect starting place for a swap, or just to run as is for a while. The compression is low, bur it runs fine

actually what he did was the right thing. if you pull the distributor harness the injectors wont fire because the computer will not be getting the crank signal from the distributor. plus if you just take off the plug wires you could get shocked.

well, they must be cheaper where you live, I can't find a running car that has no problems for under 3,000 here.

I recently ran a compression test on my 120,000mi KA24E.

Cylinder 1 - 135 Cylinder 2 - 140 Cylinder 3 - 140 Cylinder 4 - 140 don't know if those figures are normal or not, but that's what I got if that helps your decision making.

damn guys. i got 155 all around on my 203k mile SOHC, and i thought that was bad. 155 is tired on what should be a 9:1 SOHC I thought.

my ka24e is, I believe 8:1 or 8:5:1 it's not the 9:1, when I bought the car it came with a sheet that stated the the compression was lowered. I'll look for sure when I get home.
