Ok... here's the deal... car was running great, went in to wal mart and came out to leave, and it won't start at all now... its been rainin a lot and I checked the cone filter I have to make sure it wasn't wet, and wasn't(SRI)... It would start if i spray carb cleaner in the intake but only for a second... I replaced the fuel filter and pump with no better results, on the advice of a mechanic friend... I'm stuck and don't know what to do now... what do you guys think... btw... this is a 1999 Nissan Maxima SE... about 99k miles... thanks for any help in advance!!!

well there weren't any before it stopped running... and now it won't turn on for me to check... I'm thinkin about replacing the camshaft and crankshaft sensors to see if that works... I've been told and read that either of those going out will throw off timing, preventing the car from starting... but only if I can return them if they don't fix the problem.. I don't want to spend any more money on parts that won't fix it, than I already have... also... I got an HEI tester and atleast the front bank is getting spark... I dunno if the timing is on though...

Your comment about the carb cleaner is key. My brain isn't functioning ATM, but maybe someone else can help him. If the cleaner gets it to start, I would say there's a problem in the intake path.

I agree that it sounds like a fuel delivery issue. The problem with not taking these to a stealership is that you have to pretty much eliminate one thing at a time... My next step would be to look into the MAF sensor, or possible the Throttle possition sensor. Of course, these are not cheap but they are next on the rotation. Did you spray starting fluid or carb cleaner in the intake?

okay... new status... I bought a Diod tester or whatever it is to check whether or not the injectors are getting a signal... and they're not... Another mechanic told me that I have a security feature that kills the injectors if someone tries to steal the car or something like that... I may have to have it and/or the keys reprogrammed... I had also gone ahead and changed the cam shaft sensor, with no help... nont its a shop and I'm waitin on word.... I didn't take it to the stealership, but to a guy I was told to take it to. I trust the word of the person who suggested him, so we'll see what happens... yeah, it was carb cleaner... I was kinda worried that doin that may mess up the MAF... but its pretty much doin the same thing it is now, that it was last thursday....

ok, so does anyone know if that security system cuts power to the injectors... Now I'm being told that it cuts power to the started... As far as I can tell, from the parts I've replaced and tests I've run its not starting because the injectors aren't getting the electric current to tell them to pulse... at all... there's no signal at all to them... well the front 3... I didn't feel like takin off the IM to test the rear bank... Front and rear banks are getting spark per HEI spark tester... What options should I check or have checked that would cause the injectors to not recieve a signal...
