Hey everyone!

I just purchased a 1990 240 for my little sister. I have 2 weeks to get it ready for her and i have a few questions. The car is in excellent shape! I don't need to do anything to the (charcoal)paint or tint. I suppose it is a base model b/c it doesn't have a spolier, sunroof, or alloys, but, like i said it still looks good. Anyway, i would love to hear your suggestions and opinions, they dont need to be limited to my questions. Thanks!

I noticed that the the window handles as well as the wingshield wiper controls have a white/gray film on them. If i scratch at it it seems to come off. kinda gross, i was thinking it was from years of hand dirt and oil accumulation. ew! okay, has anyone experienced this and found a way to get these back to black?

Alloys: recommended brands? I dont want to get anything too expensive or flashy, but my 96 240 had alloys and i think hers should too!

spoiler? expensive?

where can you get seat covers? really, i don't need them, there is only one small tear on the driver's side (where they always are!) but i figured i would ask anyway in case they were easy to get a hold of.

Those are the only questions i can think of right now, please let me know of any suggestions you have of small things/gadgets i can get/ do to make the car cooler (as if you could!). Oh, and please remember, she is 16, so i won't want to upgrage performance just yet!

Thanks so much!

Any sludge or slime on the controls can be removed with a product called "Goo Gone". Any hardware store or maybe even Wal-Mart will carry it. I'm not entirely sure what causes it, but you can be certain it has to do with dirt/sweat/bacteria.

Alloy wheels can be found very cheap if performance is not an issue. Some will be heavier than others, usually the lighter the better. But you can go to most autoparts store and find decent alloy wheels for less than $100 per corner.

The factory spoiler is around $170 (last time I checked). There are also aftermarket solutions to this question.... all of which will cost nearly as much as (often more than) the factory spoiler. Then you have to consider having it painted. This will EASILY double the cost of the spoiler.... and if you pay to have it installed, now you've tripled the initial investment.

Seat covers can be found from $30 at your local Wal-Mart or auto store... upto $150 from some specialty stores. The cheap ones fit poorly and rip easily.

Cool stuff to buy that won't help performance.... there is no such thing. The ONLY cool stuff....... is stuff that makes your performance better.

Alloys: Look for something in 16" with some low tyres if you aren't looking to spend alot. Get them in gunmetal too! I'd also suggest a simple set of H&R lowering springs to compliment the rims. Prices on the rims depend entirely on where you go. It depends which supplier can get what barnds for cheaper.

Cool stuff: Something cute and girly hanging from the rear view mirror. Like an animal or something.

Good luck, and great present for your sis!

As far as alloys go, find someone on ebay thats selling the 91-94 6 spoke alloys, they look nice and you should be able to get a set for under 200. plus they weigh under 20 lbs- pretty light for a stock rim.
