I'm coming up on 50,000 miles and I've been thinking about getting a transmission flush on my cvt automatic Ac. Nissan said its suppose to get done every 30k so I'm alil late but they said I should be fine if I change it soon, but my friends are telling me not to because it will ruin my transmission. So now I'm stuck in between what should I do. Any input will help thanks

I actually talked to a nissan tech and he told me at 60k to do the cvt oil change. But it all depends on your driving. He said if you hauling butt 30-40k miles change it but if your a calm driver not beating your altima 60k is a good number

The official word from Nissan is to have a Nissan tech visually inspect your transmission fluid. No it will not ruin your trans if you have a dealership change the fluid.

I talked to my Nissan dealership and they said a visual inspection at 60K was all that was needed and the fluid shouldn't need changing until you're over 100K miles...I think the owners manual also says this.

what your friends are talking about is the older CVT transmissions in the muranos. those went out frequently. I had my fluid changed at about 60k, it wont ruin your car. Think about it this way, the car will need the fluid changed at some point. the factory warranty on the CVT was extended to 10 years or 120k miles (which ever comes first). If you change it now and the transmission blows, they'll just give you a new one for free under warranty.

This is all assuming you live in America (where I live). If you live in another country, check with your Nissan dealership about the warranty on the CVT. I'd change the fluid a few thousand miles before the warranty expires so if it does mess up, you get a new one for free.
