I have a stock 158k miles ka24de from a 92. It was running fine. I ran it hard one day and the next day during highway driving, it just started to run sluggish and very rough all of the sudden. Started to run loud. sounds like an exhaust leak, but I don't have one. the exhaust just goes put, put...put...during idling, the motor shakes like a mofo. During normal driving, motor runs rough and loss of power. Between say...2k-3k, it won't accelerate and have a vibrating motor, somethin similar to a dying motor. I did extensive research and couldn't find anything. My symptoms r similar to a bad MAF or a O2 sensor. I changed both and still, same thing. I resetted the ECM by disconnecting the battery(correct????) Any other ideas...??? The rest of the components are a year old....spark plugs, fuel pump. I have a fairly nice conditioned motor. My only upgrades r header and a KN air filter. Thanx in advance....

Check your spark plugs and wires. I think you have a bad plug or wire.

my KA24DE did the similar thing... I ran hard then when I came to idle it just stalled and unless i pressed gas it would go put put put and motor would shake then just die...

Turned out it was the ignition...

changed plugs/wires/cap/rotor and motor ran fine again...

Ok...i checked for spark and to see if my injectors were working. I have spark and my injectors are working, but hard to tell if its working right.... I pulled the plugs and #1 is wet w/ fuel.....so injector 1 is clogged?? any other suggestions? I'm tryin to get all the input and different opinions i can.. thanx AXEL

One of your cylinders definitely isn't firing. Run your car, open the hood and let it idle. Remove each spark plug wire one by one until you reach one that doesn't make the idle worse. This cylinder is the culprit(if the problem is spark) So, take a screwdriver(ghetto way: hold it with a pair of rubber ended wrench as to not shock yourself) and place it in end of the plug wire to see if there is spark from the wire. If there is spark at the wire, its the plug, try changing it. If there is no spark, its the wire, and possible cap and rotor. If all of these appear good, then take the same cylinder and replace the fuel injector. Give it a shot.

Oh, and DO NOT change the plugs until the head is COLD. It is alluminum and may expand and ruin the cylinder. I'm sure you already know that, but theres safety in numbers.

Thanx for everyone's reply. I've confirmed w/ a few other people on this forum including my hometown "hotrod mechanic". All leads to my #1 injector. He said he's worked on a few nissans like mine and that seems to be the most common culprit...i.e. injectors. So now i'm debating on whether i should ditch out $84 for one or get all 4 or go to a local jyard for used ones. I was told not to use old ones cuz they're junk.... I wanted everyone's opinions so i don't just jump in and start replacing things like i did the first 2 parts...MAF and o2 sensor since they had lots of similar symptoms. But at the end, fuel in my spark plug #1 and NO change to the engine after i pulled the injector harness plug. I'm gonna change my injector sometime and see if it does it..... Thanx EEErrrrrrrrrone.....

Edit: I used some old injectors from a local j yard and it did the trick. Heres another question. I've noticed some kades have different injectors for 1 and 3 that are "blue" labled....i.e. a blue mark on them. The mouth/tip(where it sprays) of them are designed a little different. I used the blue marked one on mine(mine wasn't blue marked) and it seems to work fine so far. But if anyone could elaborate more on this, i'd appreciate it. Are the blue marked ones better design or just newer??? thanx
