Please help 2002 Maxima Radio problems

I have a 2002 Maxima SE with the stock radio (CD/Cassette combo). Yesterday the CD player decided to quit working. It won't eject or play the CD I have in it. I heard from a friend with a 1999 Maxima that had the same problem. He said the dealer wouldn't even offer to fix it, but rather replace it for $450. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Can you point me to a post or a site that shows me how to remove the deck and fix it or replace it? I'd like to do it myself but I'm quite the rookie when it comes to stuff like this.

If I do need to replace it does anyone have any suggestions for a new deck?
