I've searched and searched and searched for the last week and can't find a straight answer so please don't tell me to search for the answer. My question is how do you bypass the stock active speaker system rear amp in a s13 HB??? I don't want to run new wires all the way to the back my speakers are not that power draining and don't need anything heavier then the stock wiring. it would be alot easier for me to just cut and solder some wires together then running wire. I'm very bad with trim pieces. Any help would be apprectited. i don't even know where to start. Should i begin by removing the amp unit its self???? I'm totally lost. I looked at it for about 10 minutes and couldn't figure out anything.

are you sure it has an amp in the rear... mine didnt but doesnt mean yours doesnt.. easiest would be to prob intercept the wires before they goto the amp and splice them from there into the speakers. or run wires back under the center consol, under rear seats into trunk/hatch area up to the speakers, just a few suggestions Jon

It is very simple. You don't need to run wires anywhere. On fastback models, the amp is located underneath the left rear speaker, on coupes it is under the rear deck. Go to the amp, you will have both input from the radio, and output to the speakers at the amp. Simply clip them and tie them together. I don't remember the input wire colors offhand, but you can easily look behind the radio, they're the same color there and don't change. The output to the speakers are red and green for leftside, and blue and pink on the rightside.

I had some fun with a factory amp on a Ford Mustang once. It was located behind the factory stereo though. I didn't want to cut up the wires and splice them all. Took the factory amp apart and found that the harness connections had wires behind it. So I just cut the harnesses out of the amp and spliced them together to make my own intermediate harness. It was more for fun, but ended up much cleaner and if he really wanted, the guy could find another factory amp and put it back to stock quite easily. I did it for fun, but the guy gave me more money because he liked it. =)

I figured it out. I took the hole amp apart and luckily it was all labelled right on the board so i just followed the wires and Bam I've got way better sound. just if anyone wants to know it goes like this:

Brown =>RedBrown With stripe=>Dark GreenBlue with White Stripe=>PurpleBlue With Yellow Stripe=>Pink

And the BLACK, LIGHT GREEN, and SOLID BLUE wires are useless just keep them away from each other.
