On a previous post i asked if it was possible to put a RB26 engine in my 92 maxima. I would like an answer to this question even if its a stupid question, I obviously dont know... I just bought a 92 maxima and its kind of a toy... I know nothing about nissan and have no problem admitting it... I dont even know if the engine would bolt right up or if it would require significant fabrication... thats why i posted on this website, to get answers, since i figured a nissan exclusive website would be able to answer this question.. So can you please just allow a variety of people to respond to this question and stop being a snob and assuming that just because you know something everyone else does too....Thats why we have this internet thing, to aquire knowledge

Dude, Maxhopper answered your question perfectly. It would require an extensive amount of fabrication to make that setup work. And apparently you don't know much about online forums.... there is thing that's called flaming. And it's what people do to people that ask rediculous questions. That was all the answer you need. Don't be a jerk about it

thank you for your feedback...i was not trying to be a jerk i just needed to hear some other opinions...I dont mind being flamed its part of learning...you always have somebody that feels like everyone should know everything, and since i am just now trying to figure out what to do with this car i obviously know very little about nissan... I still think I want to put the skyline engine in since I have found one with an AWD transmission that is only about 3500...It will be expensive but I think the end product will be worth it

You'd probably spend more than double that on making it fit, if it will even fit under the hood. If you have to do a swap get a vq35.

Trying to make a the RB work in a 3rd gen would be an INSANE amount of work.

I have had the same dream, eventually i am going to turn a 3rd gen into a drifter, but unless you have buddies who build race cars for a living or you have tons of money to spend, it wouldnt be a good idea.

However, if you really wanna spend a few years doing it then it would be koo.

Just remember, You want to take a FWD V6, into a AWD I6 or even a RWD I6, you are gonna have your work cut out for you.

if you are serious, you got to get started on a lot of research.

Good Luck to you Though!!!

If you're going to go all out like that and place a RB26 in it, Why not just create a Tube Frame car, and place a Maxima body on it? That'd probably be your best bet, to make a custom built racer, that just looks like a 3rd gen from the outside. This way you could have a lighter/stiffer chassis to start with. Thats the way I'd go at least, if you wanted to do it the correct way.

As Dragon said, this wouldn't be something i'd try without a garage and a few years, I've made one purpose built racer from a kit, and that took 8 months. Without plans, this could take years and soak up a lot of money. If you're going to do it, do it right. Use a CAD to design out the car and make sure everything fits, You might get horrible handling if you don't check your center of gravity first, especially with the AWD system installed.

If it is was in fact a "reasonable question" it would not have been locked.

And making snide remarks about myself, or any of the other staff, is not going to go well for you.

I don't see why you're taking this so personally.

The thread was locked for a variety of reasons. One of them, as maxhopper stated in the original thread, was your own sake. Threads like that usually don't fare well, and degrade into pointlessness or worse--NOT because of the question, but because of the typical answers it receives. The topic has also been covered before, a simple search will uncover the answers you're looking for.

Also, if you read the FAQ and the terms of conditions, you'll find that creating a new thread about a locked topic is something we frown upon. You certainly can't say anyone is trying to keep you down when we allowed this new thread to continue.

However, with that little bout of insulting profanity, I think it's time to lock this one as well.

Finally, in the future, if you have a problem with any moderator or admin, please handle it via email. The forum isn't the proper place to handle those disputes. All forum staff have their emails listed in their profiles.

Wow. Someone's schizophrenic.

Let me ask you this: Have you ever done a motor swap in ANY car? Not trying to be rude, just asking.

If the answer is NO, then I'm not sure why you'd even think you'd be ready for such a project.

If the answer is YES, then I'm thinking you'd know that a RWD straight-6 into a FWD chassis is simply a preposterous notion.

Either way, don't lip off at my staff. He answered your question and did it in a manner that's widely accepted as "nice".

p.s. When we ban, we ban permanently. IP and all. With a message to your provider. This ain't a kiddie-pool. Threats with lots of asterisks just irritate my arse.

Have a great day. Seriously.
