Deleting the account is little more then a grand dramatic gesture that is simply not needed.

People are paranoid today and rightly so, Myspace and Facebook and others have a delete account option. I am not sure if its required by any law, but if people want to protect themselves then they should be able too.

But then again this is the Internet so nothing is forgotten, Case in point: http://web.archive.org/

You can even see that NICO used to charge for a membership.

Edit: After looking over the Terms Of Service (When you agree to when you sign up) I see no reference to where an account CAN'T be deleted. Is it posted anywhere else that they agree to when they sign up?

If not then the Original Poster should have his account deleted if he so chooses to. And then you (NICO Staff) can amend the Terms Of Service if they choose to.

Yes I know ALL POSTS ARE PROPERTY OF NICO, I hope ALL MEMBERS remember that!
But as I said deleting an account doesn't mean you have to delete all the posts.

Whats the reason a person can't have his account deleted anyways?

Its the same as banning someone isn't it?

The quandary here, is deleting the account deletes all posts associated with the account and as you reference above ... they belong to NICO now along with all your basses.

At the bottom of a section page (Nico General chat secton, Q45 forum, J30 Forum....) it says:
You can delete your posts in this forum
So if we (The members) can delete our own posts because its enabled on the forum software, why is is against the rules to do so?

Its like a mother saying yes and a father saying no...One can only be right.

Sometimes I wonder if you and PMQ are roommates.

Yes, deletion of posts is a function of the software, and it's useful on occasion (double-posting, posting in wrong thread, etc).

However, if the staff sees that someone's just deleting posts to be an attention-seeking a$$, 2 things will happen: Ban, and we'll restore the posts (just because we can :) ).

Does that clear up something that I really shouldn't have had to clear up? ;)
