hey everyone, i've been reading through this forum for a couple months, be it the write ups, how too's and what not's.

the name is gerry, i reside in edmonton alberta, and i drive a 180sx, CA powered of course.

sorry for the lack of pictures, my current mods are as followed.

- 2.5 inch front mount intercooler- 3 inch exhaust, downpipe back

thats basically it, i've recently pulled the engine to replace some gaskets, and do some work. what i've got in mind for the near near future is

- butterfly valve removal- port job on the lower intake mani- port match and ka24de throttle body install- tubular exhaust manifold (CXracing) i believe was the brand- possibly stud the head.- gauges installed- 2 oil catch can's- electric fans and aluminum rad.

now, one question that comes to mind as i type this s*** out, is. i've been inspecting the intake and see there are coolant lines running into it from the back, and the front side of the upper intake manifold. my thoughts are this, can i plug those up, maybe run some type of compressed air into there or do they connect to the engine block? may seem stupid, but i'd rather ask than f*** up my engine any help is appreciated, constructive criticism.

also, while my engine is out, i need to replace the clutch and flywheel. looking for a lightened flywheel and a good reputable clutch, as my spec "stage 3" shattered itself into pieces and chopping up the inside of my bellhousing.

thanks

Ger.

also!

i forgot to mention, i may purchase a GT28RS (disco potato) lol. brand new off of a friend for 800 dollars brand new, never installed.

if i kept my stock boost until i was ready for my fuel upgrades to take on 12 psi or so, with the head being studded of course, how would my lag be?

i've been into cars and such for years, still learning the boost stuff, such as how A/R's and inlet size and what not make a difference..

he says with his GT28RS he was reaching boost at 2500 on an SR, which i know is 2.0 but... yeah. if anyone can answer my questions i'd be reaaally greatful.

( this forum seems to be one of the better ones, where there isnt so much bulls***, myself excluded.)

Hello!!

http://www.driftopia.com/2007/...-to-1/

here is some info on the coolant lines, which i'll probably be doing over the winter to my car. You'll just have to get a T and reducer for the water line for the turbo that routes behind the block.

get the CXRacing manifold!! for $130 its great. I've been running mine all summer and its been nothing but great to me. no cracks whatsoever. Good luck with everything!

I'm surprised to hear about your clutch problem. I've had nothing but great experiences with SPEC.

Keep an eye out on eBay for the flywheel and clutch. You can also make an SR flywheel and clutch work with the use of the hoodless "gear reduction" style starter from a CA20E/CA18ET out of an S12, and maybe some grinding on the bellhousing.

As for the turbo, it should be fine at low boost, but be aware that turbo is pretty laggy on the CA. Was he using the stock manifold? If so, that accounts for why it spooled so quickly.

Don't discount the stock manifold, it's a good design, and if you sent it off to get extrude honed, it would probably actually flow just as well, if not better than a tubular, without the increased lag associated with a tubular manifold.
