The other day I was surfing youtube and came across this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi2gH-kdZ0k

Notice he has no wire connected to the AUX in jack and he is controlling the iPod thru the stereo. He is talking about HD Radio too. At first I took a mad dash out to my driveway with my ipod thinking I've been a idiot all this time hooking up a wire into the AUX in jack since I've had my Rogue. You should have seen the confused look on my face after I pushed the same buttons he did and I got nothing after several attempts. Then I confirmed I'm an idiot after I figured out what PXAMG means in the title. Basically it's an added system and wires which you need to buy that connect behind your stereo. I still can't figure out how he is running iPod without a wire. Bluetooth maybe? I don't know.

Anyone had these devices installed and how much did everything cost? I love the fact that nothing visibly showing as added on.

I guess AUX in jack is okay, better then nothing, but I hate that the stereo won't display anything other then AUX and you can't control the iPod from the stereo or the steering wheel. Plus, my wire isn't very long, so if I don't rest my iPod in the cup holder it goes flying when I make a turn. I

I can't figure out why Nissan didn't just offer this as a upgrade if the stereo interface is clearly compatible with the added system rather then having it installed on your own.

I have not taken the radio out, but is there an aux input on the back of the radio?

There is an iPod interface available for the Rogue:

1) OEM Nissan iPod interface, purchase from any Nissan dealer. The only prerequisite is you must have the BOSE system.

2) Peripheral Electronics PXAMG. One of our members Eddnog tried it, he was not impressed by sound quality.

BTW, none of the above interfaces have wireless Bluetooth. They all use the standard iPod cable.

There is a pretty extensive thread listed in the Official Rogue FAQ sticky. Here is the direct link:

Yeah, that's the PXAMG. Eddnog tried it and was not impressed:

Quote »I installed the Peripheral goods today and...

...it sucks. The sound quality is clearly not as good as using the Line-In port on the head unit, and the controls do not match what is indicated on any of the literature that came with any part of the kit (neither the generic instructions that came with the interface unit nor the Altima/"Rogue"-specific reference cards that came with the harness. I was unable to switch to the HD tuner to test it out, either, and there was simply no way to control the iPod as intended. I will have to decide whether I want to return this stuff to the company I bought it from or try to call them and let them attempt to figure out what went wrong. It was no fun disassembling the dashboard, either, even with the assistance of the technical service manual!

For the time being, I recommend avoiding the Peripheral kit for the Rogue, unfortunately. I was so excited, too.

I have the OEM interface and have no complaints regarding sound quality. It's just that the interface itself (controlling the iPod via the BOSE head unit) is very awkward. The instructions for the PXAMG and the Youtube video I've seen make its interface look better but I have no experience with the PXAMG.

There is an iPod cable to the dock connector. You just don't see the cable and iPod in the video. The PXAMG (and the OEM interface) connects to the back of the head unit. It looks like the PXAMG connects by taking over the SAT radio input like the OEM interface. The OEM interface, however, doesn't allow you to choose SAT radio -- you have to disconnect the iPod to listen to SAT radio.

There are a lot of compatible aftermarket products that manufacturer's don't offer as upgrades. That's why the aftermarket exists in the first place. ;-)

The PXAMG and Nissan's own iPod interface only work with the SAT radio enabled headunits. In the case of the Rogue, that means you must have the premium BOSE system. If you have a base model radio, these devices won't work.

Nissan has been slow to get on the iPod/MP3 bandwagon. They have started though... The Altima, 370Z, Maxima, Sentra, and even the 2010 Versa have all received new head units with navigation, iPod, and MP3 capabilities (depending on model, not all these features are available). The Rogue is due for a refresh in 2011 (The 2011 model will be introduced this coming September) and I fully expect they will bring it in line with the rest of their products by offering similar features.
