I've heard copper might be better to use for performance than platinum. I want to know what you all might think.

Run platniums, the ignition system is pretty solid on the VQ and unless you're running obscene amounts of boost, the power difference is negligible.

As an electrician...I have to say copper. Why do I run copper wires? Because they conduct electricity very well. Platinum may last a few thousand miles longer but they are more expensive than the $2 copper plugs that last 15-30k.

Like what? Think about it. You have something that is creating a spark, so you want your spark plug to be made of a material that conducts electricity very well. Short of using gold spark plugs, copper is the next best thing. I've used copper on every car I've ever owned and they are so cheap compared to other plugs that I have no problem replacing them in shorter intervals

Gains are pretty much nothing-- the problem is that most dynos have a margin of error that works out to 1-3hp or something, and that's more than the gain you'd see from switching plugs.

If you want the optimum combination of longevity and performance, fork out the $16 a plug for iridium (sp?) ones. The $8 or so I pay for stock NGK plats every 100k miles is good enough for me.

I have put Bosch Platinum Fusion which is $11 each.It cost $66 to replace all of them after that my car wasn't started or hard to start. The machenic told it is not for you. Just use NGK(OEM) things. So I refunded all of them and I bought NGK plugs which are $5.60.No problem... So far...Actually I wonder that what kinds of spark plugs is good for 96' infiniti i30?Platinum or Copper?

I only use OEM parts and get them from Joe (Scottsdale Infiniti) for discounted price. Never have had any problem with platinum plugs. Avoid the Bosch plugs as these could ruin your engine (do a search within NICO about Bosch plugs).

Stick to platinum, copper won't last as long and I've known some people who have switched to copper and when running some high hp, have had trouble with copper. Also, they have had trouble starting sometimes. Stick to platinum, no doubt!
