Hey All,

Living in downtown area and parallel parking multiple times per day makes curb rash inevitable. I haven't scraped in about 7-8 months until last week. Fortunately, the Plastidip I had on that wheel seemed to prevent some of the damage. I probably had about 6 coats on each of the rims, which is pretty heavy, but it appears to have paid for itself by lessening the blow.

Hooray for plastidip! :mike I'm going to do the bumpers when I get finally get some time.

I noticed a curb rash on one of front wheels today; I don't recall hitting any curbs, but there it is. Ugggh. Drive-thru bank ATM's are the worst as they seem to have very narrow lanes with concrete curbs just waiting to grab your defenseless rims! I checked out a product called "Wheel Bands" which are a narrow, circular plastic band with a vinyl bumper-type inset. These supposedly act as a wheel protector by sacrificing the vinyl bumper (which is replaceable) when you crunch a curb. These bands can also cover-up previous curb damage. I am planning on trying a set soon.

Have you posted photos of your PlasiDipped wheels?

I've read that some peeps up north use PlatiDip clear on the wheels to protect the finish from road salt, etc in winter.

I didn't take a photo in time, but it seemed to only scratch the paint whereas it gouged the metal rim in the past. Maybe I didn't actually scrape that hard.

@Larz, yeah that's partially why I use plastidip. I leave my car outside and it's exposed to a lot of elements.
I actually just did the entire front bumper as the clear coat was cracked in so many places due to road chips and whatnot. Wish I had done that before all the wear occurred, but it looks much better than the chalky white bumper. I love this stuff. :)
