So I was having some fun with plastidip yesterday. I repainted my calipers red so I could go faster and while the car was jacked thought I would plastidip the wheels. (pics to come soon). Now I have an extra can of plastidip and was wondering if I could make some eyelids using masking tape to cover the headlight, has anyone ever done this? Does anyone have any eyelids you think I should model mine after?

Thanks
Sasha

I tried to plasti dip the nissan emblem and god it went horrible. I'm sure someone done it before. Check PHENOMenal Vinyl's gallery he probably has it.

Just try to mirror the outline of some eyelids you like.. it shouldn't be too hard. I'm intrigued on how that'd turn out, too.

because plasti-dip is a polymer, and it sticks to itself in sheets, masking can be completely useless in many applications. It will simply rip unevenly when you pull the mask up. What you could try is to remove the mask while the paint is still very wet.

i've had a bit of fun with plastidip so far... not sure im completely done with it yet either... if you're planning on doing the eyelids, one thing you NEED to do is peel the tape on the actual lens while the paint is still wet. the borders are all okay to do multiple coats and let dry, but on the lens you need to peel every coat

hey ohwowbeau, i like the way your eyelids came out, was it really hard having to peel the tape on the lens every time, and do your blinkers show well still?

thanks, it really wasn't that hard because you can wait as long as you want before doing the next coat. if you just let it dry out completely, it makes it easier to tape up.
the blinkers really depend on how many coats you do.. i did about 2 and they're not that great in daylight, but really good at night.

I've heard of people painting over plastidip, but never tried it myself. I really wanted to try the clear as a base on the tails and then paint a GTR style tint on, but too lazy

Did you remove the headlights for this rubberized compound or sprayed them on the car and remove the excess ?
