Plasticoat spray behind chrome grill & oil change intervals

I have put the stick on chrome grill pieces on my wife's rogue and she loves them. She how ever loves how the 2011 rogues have black behind the chrome grill. If I was to just plasticoat behind the grill then place a new grill on would this work?

Also is there a oil change indicator on the rogue ie. A light or dash message. We don't know when it was done last because we just got the car.

From the look of things, I believe so.

You would definitely see the the black if the blue area was painted that way.
