Is it true I can just remove them and let the engine run without them?

Is it possible to buy better guides or a double link chain?

i dont think theres a doublewide chain for the single cam, and you shouldnt remove guides, they serve a purpose normally.

whats the reason for your questions?

theres no weak link to the chains, just make sure u have good oil pressure so your tensioner's can work properly. If they don;t then your chains flap around and stretch.... a better oil pump with more oil pressure would be better but useless.
