I had a bit of a lack of motivation on the old ladies car since there are some rather hard to source items I need.

just curious how many people would buy these if they where made again. I have no idea how to go about doing it but I want to look into getting them made for hers and have some spares on hand.

As long as they are affordable, I'd be down for a set :dblthumb:

I am going to pull them and see what I can come up with.... are there more than one type or are they all the same?

Should be all the same since the Verts were really only made for 2 years.

I meant are all the ones used to hold each window in the same? can I take the best one and make a copy of that? I have yet to pull the windows out. I will be getting to this tomorrow night.

There are three guides/rollers...two different types. Two are considered rollers and one is a guide. The rollers are square and ride in a track...the guide fits over a rail and rides up and down on it. Here are is a guide to fix them: how-to-quarter-window-plastic-guide-repair-t383252.html

But if you made some and they were fairly priced I would for sure buy a set or two...hell...maybe even three sets...hehe.

I found the link again yesterday. Thanx guys. My old ladies are really screwed on one window. I hope the other has good copies.

I sent an email to a company last night to see if it's even worth it to have a mold made. getting these windows right is what the future of me rebuilding this car is hanging on.

When I rebuilt mine, I got them from a place called Florida auto fasteners I think. They weren't for this car but the size I gave him this was the closest one he had and it had the rivit to mash over and all.
I can look up the number and post a pick it you want. I made new guides and put all new "rollers" in and it works great. I was thinking of doing a write-up but it seems like there are so many.

Here is what I did in the basement with a slide vise, drill press and needle file set.

It moves better than it has since I have had the car for the last three or four years. barely any movement back and forth and seats in the gasket well. I will try to do a write up when I have time and can figure out how to post pics.

It is the least I can do as much as I have been a lurker here just learning so that I could replace my top and carpet and other things.

Thanks Nathan

They look great! I need to fix my passenger window guides really bad...I fixed them one time but it didn't hold. Keeps me from driving with the top down (which sucks!) because once the window is down it's a bear to get back up...afraid it's going to break so just waiting to fix it.

That is a fantastic job. I have a couple of questions for you:

- Where did you get the block of plastic? Is it same quality as OEM plastic?

- How did you press the plastic pieces in? I saw someone cut the back, put the plastic piece in and weld it back.

However you did it, it's amazing.

I'm away from the house right now but I think it was a block of "Delrin http://www2.dupont.com/Plastics/en_US/P ... elrin.html" (high tensil strength along with high lubricity or low friction and wear). I got it off ebay in mostly the size I needed (most importantly the 1/2 or so inches thick, I could cut it into most any other size with a table saw). I just ran a saw kerf down the length and then cut it off for the right width. used a slide vise to get the basics of the slot for the guide.
As far as the installation I ground off the back side so I could have the stud separate. I talked to the local welding instructor and he didn't think that we could weld the studs back in without melting the block a little so we built up the backside about a 1/4 inch and turned them down to fit back in the holes of the bracket then pounded them over just like the rivits for the "rollers" If it starts to work loose I can then try to have them spot welded.
So far it has been about 3 months and no problems and they work great.

Update:
Over two years and still solid and working well.
Of course I had a lot more than 6 hours in it like the guy selling the rebuild on ebay.
But I did enjoy doing it.
