Yesterday I realized that my radiator was leaking. I kept on smelling a sweet smell like antifreeze, so i poped the hood and sure enough, right at the top where the foam shroud is it was spraying coolant. I think it was a thermostat that went south and took the radiator with it because when i added more fluid and tried to drive the temperature kept on spiking and i had to shut it down but there was plenty of fluid. I pulled into the local import mechanic shop and they took a look and told me that I had a crack in my plastic radiator! I was so suprized because i had always assumed it was aluminum. I geus im getting another plastic because an aluminum runs anywhere from 350 to 500. as where labor and all for plastic is under 300. I still wish i could upgrade such a piece of crap but thats wha happens when your a broke college student.:(

that radiator core is copper im pretty sure (at least on my car), maybe just the endtanks are plastic. Maybe the previous owner put a new radiator in an was to cheap to get a OEM replacement?

Replacing a radiator isnt as hard as people think it is. You could do it yourself and save a bunch of money.

I took the radiator out of my '95 Eclipse GSX in 5 minutes... I don't see how labor could be too much. If you bring it up here, I'll change it for ya right on the spot and only charge you a 6-pack :D . Also, I doubt that plastic has any cooling capacities at all, although the endtanks of almost all factory radiators are plastic. I'd say invest in a Fluidyne if you want to upgrade. Do it right the first time and never do it again.
