When I was at the NYIAS this Friday, I was looking at this cutout of a Dodge 2.0L engine. To my surprise, I notice that the chain guide is made of plastic. It was a robust piece of plastic, but plastic none the less. Don't they pay attention to the mistakes that other car companies make, like Infinti that these things will break. Dumb move!

Arguably, you could say a better developed plastic, in a non-aluminum block engine would last the ~100k that the manufacturers are concerned about. But what's to say with the elimination of the 7/70 warrantee, that they aren't building some weak lins into the system, that will require new car purchases around 100k?

That guide piece is plastic, backed by plastic, backed by metal. The ones in the 90-93 Q were a single piece of plastic that didnt have anything firm for support.
