Hey everyone.

I just finished putting the valve head covers back onto the engine. I wanted to do a quick once over before i cleaned up shop and to my horror, noticed a piece of dry (kinda like a dead leaf, just falls apart to the touch) plastic that fell from the engine harness onto the mating surface between the exhaust valve head cover and the head, and went un-noticed while i worked on other things.

The rtv is already dry and dragging my finger against it in the back only proves to me that its sandwiched between there.

I really dont want to do this job a third time (first time forgot to put the half moons in :tisk:)

i hate to do a half assed job, but will it do no harm to leave it as is? or should i just tear that side apart and start all over again? :frown:

Im desperate, HELP!

Probably no way to know whether it will leak without running the motor. If it leaks, then you have a much bigger job ahead of you to fix it. It'd probably be easier to just pull it now and redo it rather than have to re-pull the plenum if it leaks.

FWIW, doing things 2-3 because I screwed up the first time is kinda my norm. But that's how we learn.

point taken. bit the bullet and spent the morning doing it again. Surprisingly, its easier the 3rd time around! Cleaned it, Re-sealed it, made the bolts tight and had a nice cold one after. I guess 3rd time really is the charm

Thanks again for the advice!
