Since the weather has been getting nicer I've been starting to fix and make the Pathy look a little better. Bought four cans of Plasti-Dip and a can of VHT Caliper paint. Spent most of Saturday up at the cottage working on this. Did it one wheel at a time.

Used a wire brush on a heavy duty power drill to remove the rust off of the rotors and drums then wiped them down with a cloth.

The centre caps were pretty easy to do. Just Plasti-Dip the whole thing then remove the dip off of the nissan emblem. That way you dont have to remove them!

I did approx 3-4 coats. It was tricky getting into the nut holes since they're so deep but I got it done. Just takes patience. Ended up only using two cans and still had some to spare on my second can. Oh well, that way if I scrape a curb I have some left to re-do said Rim.

Let me know what you guys think!

Nice, thanks for sharing!

Plasti-dip is nifty stuff.

I dipped my wheels a few weeks ago, but didn't do the center caps. I installed manual hubs, so no caps up front anyways.

Over the weekend I dipped my rocksliders, one fender trim and one windshield wiper arm. Not sure if I will do the rest of the trim/bumper-just a trial.

The wiper I just want to see how long it will hold up.

Edit-adding: Pictures of my Plasti-dip wheels are on this NPORA thread:

Yeah this stuff is pure genious. I think it makes mine look a little meaner. Still gotta tint the driver side rear window (bastard threw a rock through it) and the two front windows. Our old '01 had the same rims yours has!

Drag about the rear window.

I had actually been thinking about plasti-dipping those rear windows on mine, but from the inside. Im going to have to think about how much I use them (ie-how much of a blind spot) before I do though.

Definitely the best looking factory rim for the R50 Pathfinder!

Looks nice, i thin im gonna do the same. If i do, do i have to stay away from car washes? Also is that matte black or gloss black?

Matte black. Let it dry before you wash. Wait a day.

They sell glossifiers and metallizers (that you spray on top of the base) at dip[no space]your[no space]car[dot]com. All one word, IDK how this site is about linking to merchants.

I've had a lot of stuff on my car dipped and I get washes very often. No scratches or peeling.

They are a matte black. For some reaosn they look glossy in some pics.

Ive taken these things through many types of washes. Touch and touchless car washes aswell as pressure washers dont do the dip any harm. I've also used a hand mit on them and it doesn't do any harm what so ever.

The centre caps are to be popped off and done seperately when and if you do dip your rims. Just do the whole centre cap and peel off the dip that covers the chrome part.

Hmm....maybe you could sand off the white portion of the lettering...or is the whole letter part white?

I saw on the website that some people were plasti dipping their whole CAR! Looked pretty good from what I saw. I am kinda thinking about it because they had some really amazing colors! LOL I never would have thought to do the windows though....do you think if you got one of the lighter colors that it would tint them or would it block it all out? If you didnt end up liking the way it looked how hard do you think it would be to remove it from the window?

Your rims look awesome BTW :)
