Well here it is, the infamous Plasti-Dip Mod. Just google it for more info. In a nutshell, I spray painted 3-4 coats. First coat will look splotchy looking since this is the base coat. No biggie. Between coats wait about 30 minutes is fine just make sure temp is at least 60 degrees, i would wait at least 70-80 degrees outside to be safe. Just use painters tape in a rectangular fashion around the Nissan Emblems. Make last coat the heaviest so it will peel easier around the emblem . Remember if you don't like it, you can peel this stuff off which feels similiar to Glad trash bag plastic covering the emblem.

In the Pixs, I didn't remove some of the color inside the letters since I didn't mind the look. Moreover, I left the circle in the rear Nissan Emblem cover because I liked how it looked instead of a circle with a line across which I did not prefer from seeing others Nissan emblems online with the same mod. The emblems are dirty because of pollen and dirt, while some white under the lettering was the original adhesive still seen.

Try it if you like it! :mike

The Girl looked great with the Chrome lettering but I kept her as is during mod.

Nice! Glad to see someone else has done this. I've been debating between doing the same thing on mine, or just debadging the whole rear. I think I'll wind up removing the "ROGUE" and "SL AWD" badges, and then paint the Nissan logo black.
I especially like the how you did the front, casper! And the stuff just peels off too? Fantastic.

Did you apply a primer first? Or did you spray straight onto the pieces?

That's the beauty of this stuff. Just spray it on. No need for primer or sanding. If you end up not liking the look just peel it off.

After the final coat, waiting 30 minutes is long enough before peeling. It was if this stuff was made for this mod. The stuff peels off around the lettering and emblems nicely. Way easier than the old school way of debadging and painting then re-adhereing emblems.

tip:
15-30 minutes between coats.
3-4 coats.
make sure last coat is heaviest. (So it will be easier to peel around the letters/badge)
peel off- admire work

difficulty: EASY

Ps- I even plasti-dip my crossbars. Forgot to mention that earlier.

You all know the weather stripping below the doors is causing scratches on the rocker sill.

Do you think we can use this spray on the rocker piece to protect it from scratches?

Funny, that was actually my next mod experiment. I have clear packaging tape covering that area now. So I thought I use this stuff which is like spray on tape in a way. Just bought a new can and waiting for the weather to improve.

Personally, I think that the rocks and pebbles get stuck between the paint and rubber moldings which creates the abrasions. I post pictures when I get a chance. Plus, wait some time to see if it works.

I will be using black which is all they sell at the local store. But you can order the clear plasti-dip on their website. They actually have 6 colors. :mike

Whenever I wash the car, I clean the rubber weather stripping. I insert a cloth between the two lips of the stripping and clean it. It is generally filled with small rock pieces.

I was using black electric tape for the last three months. It sounds funny, but believe me it worked. Today I removed the tape and you should see the tape...it was full of scratches.

I guess black is the best color for that application, no matter what colour of car you have. My biggest concern is the time to dry. After spraying the stuff, I have to wait for at least 40 45 minutes before I close the doors. Otherwise probably the material will stick to the weather stripping and who knows, maybe melt that rubber?

Is this material like spray paint? I will spray outdoors and with a blowing wind, I don't want to have tiny dots of this material all over the car (happened once with a spray paint :) )

The tricky part will be using the masking tape I guess...but the fantastic thing about this material is, you can remove it if you want.
