The other day I decided to Plasti-dip the lower rocker panel section of my bumper, or whatever that area is called. I just had it repainted due to a recent accident some months ago. Anyways, I noticed this area was prone to rock and debris damage as there seems to be alot of nicks, pits, and paint chipped off its surface.

Moreoever, I live in a mid-urban level city with smooth pavement all-around, so I believe it must be worse for those Rogue Drivers living in harsher climates. I also recommend this mod for darker color Rogues since it is less noticeable unless you don't mind the look. I hardly notice it unless I stare at it.

It is really easy to do, just place a heavy coat in the area EXCEPT the area near the painters tape. After your done doing the area the last thing to do is a quick heavy coat near the painters tape to finish it off. This way it will be easier to remove the tape with no mess with it sticking to the tape.

As you can see the line is flawless and I did this when the weather was around 60 degrees on a windy day. It's best if it was 70 degrees. :gapteeth:

Remember, the heavier the coat the thicker the protection.

ps- I actually did this before my accident and when trying to remove it, it seemed pretty durable. How durable? It was a PITA to rub off, boy my fingers were sore trying to peel it off. LOL  Perhaps I Should have made a heavier coat. But of course since this is removable, you can return your bumper to it's original condition if you like as if it was never there.

Yes, but you have to order it online. Great idea and you don't have to worry about perfect lines. I am into the black and blue contrast, so the black Plasti-dip doesn't really bother me. :naughty:

I actually did a thread on Plasti-dip on the door sills. In my opinion, it is best to use the 3M tape, even clear packaging tape in my case. The tape works the best.

The constant rubbing, opening and closing, and debris getting in between the molding eventually breaks through the plasti-dip and minute pinholes in the Plasti-dip paint start to creep up again.
