one of the [few] flaws on mine is that the left part of the ashtray is broken. i can get it to stay closed, and so i don't mess with it. since i haven't *really* taken mine apart to see what is broken, will one of you kind fellow Q ers offer input as to if this one looks unbroken?

thanks.

The seller says it is unbroken. It looks OK. The anlge of the picture make it difficult to tell.

Have you asked him?

I had a similar problem with front ashtray. Took it out and found a little black plastic pin that fits through lefthand serrated, open close device. Replaced pin and ashtray has worked perfectly since. Maybe I was just lucky, but if you don't find anything physically broken i.e. plastic pieces, it could be an easy fix. Hope this helps you, and possibly others with similar problems. Even if pin is missing, it looks like it would be a fairly simple fabrication. About the size of the center of a round, tapered toothpick. Best regards.

GQ Jay, Yes, your memory is correct. I have posted several times and had password issues; hence the newbie sig. I am fairly new to Q's, and have picked up a lot of great info from all you folks. I am more than happy to pass along my share as well. I will try to be more active in my participation, as I have only begun to scratch the surface, and it's always good to have input when problems arise. Keep in touch and I'll try to be a more productive member. Wish I would have gotten in on the lowering springs for $200!!! Computer illiteracy and trying to run a dual boot system can create a bit of down time. If the fix involves a different ashtray, you should be able to fill or wetsand the finish, as it seems to be pretty thick. Best of luck.

I broke my ashtray one time when I was taking it out. you can just take a pin or a small screw and that will fix it.... As long as someone didnt try yanking at the thing thats what youll want to do....
