First off, hey guys I'm new to this forum but have been forum lurking on here since about 6 months before I bought my 300zx, I used to be heavily into bikes but got tired of things there so kind of new to modding cars. Your site is awesome and lots of useful information on here, when I'm bored at work I generally browse your technical section to better know what makes my cars heart beat.
So this brings me to my current delima with it, I blew my rings and possibly the exhaust seals in my turbos (haven't had it completly apart yet). since my summer up here in canada pretty much ends in 2-3 months im going to do a complete rebuild on it vs. a quicky to get it going for just 3 weeks.
Basically I'm making sure with you guys that I'm not missing something simple or hidden while I'm planning my build.
So far I've ordered:
-Complete oem gasket kit
-All bearings
-Timing belt kit (belt, water pump, etc)
-Godspeed smic, after research I've heard they are actually pretty decent so for $320 shipped to my door after heckling with the company, why not?
-Wossner pistons, 8:1 cr (I believe this is what I ordered, I got my buddy at the shop to see what he could find and didn't want Wiesco, he said they were big in Europe and I trust him)
-I had ordered 2 t28's but cancelled them before they shipped since I wasnt in a hurry to get 'er back together anymore.

Im researching a couple brands of injectors, (JECS seems to be up there quality wise?) but going with 740cc, 800cc minimum
Since am waiting a couple months to pick up turbos now I figure I might as well go bigger and better, so thinking about the gt675's or gt725's that Z1 offers as I am looking for 600whp, not right away but at some point I suppose :dblthumb:
Also looking at a meth kit, I don't want to blow my motor again!!! Anything to prohibit a little more peaks my interest!

Is there anything else you guys might recommend I add as well, or maybe take away? I should also ad that I already have a chipped and tuned ecu (I know I'll need the retune), single pop intake, 3' straight through exhaust w/H-pipe, act hd solid 6 puck, aem wideband and boost gauges, hks evc 5, ultra turbo timer, hardpipes, lowered on Bilstien shocks and no idea what coils (rides like a dream!)

And the last thing is a very maybe thats not priority but my dyno guy says its the easiest to tune, a Haltech. Not sure if I want or am able to drop $1800 on one but getting rid of mas air would be awesome... it's a maybe but probably not.

Any idea what i would find for numbers as well?

Thanks guys
Brad

Welcome to the forums... Bummer on the forced rebuild, but at least you're getting some toys! :bigthumb:

My 2 cents is a dual intake setup with the maf translator. Better to do it now so you don't have to retune again. Good luck! And keep this thread updated with your build so we can keep up!

Here's a few others.. blank-waiting-on-a-thread-title-t548931.html

Mine is the bottom one. A budget build with 400hp as the goal

jecs are garbage, get nismos.

you don't need a meth kit, with a good tune, you won't blow your engine, assuming you run the right fuel, etc.
600whp is also not possible on regular gasoline, you would need race fuel for that.

haltech is awesome, but it's not the easiest, it introduces many more variables....for what you're trying to do, nistune would be much easier.

also, i would strongly recommend the wiseco pistons over the wosser pistons or whatever you're planning on getting, wiseco pistons are proven in our cars, and they'll stand behind their products.

At $1800, you're better off getting aem ems 2 for a fee hubdred more from what I've researched - much more user-friendly and there are people in the z community who have base maps available to send to you to get started. However, I've also seen a few good results with map ecu 2 (3 is out now) and it's only $800. It all comes down to the tuner you have available to you - how comfortable they are with the GUI.

I disagree on the Selin (unless you can afford it right now) - best to focus on things that are hard to get to with engine in first. You also don't need a chip reburn with Selin - it's got 2 selectable modes for this purpose.

Ditch the aem wideband in favor for something more real-time accurate with data logging capability. Such as the innovate lm-2

Definitely consider an oil cooler upgrade.

Hey, yea still trying to figure out what turbos I'm going for as well as a number of other things, buying everything piece by piece really and saving turbos for last purchase. I had some parts come in Thursday and Friday :) Notably, my pistons!! Haven't decided if I'm going with dual pop intake yet or not, I've heard the selin translator is a must if I do though.
Trying to figure out how to post pictures but once I do I'll upload some of the car and partsI have so far
