Not consistently enough in the past. A 10-mile ride followed by a week of eating garbage = weight gain.

Good luck man! Just a word of advice though. If you're planning on continuing these types of journeys, then you should get a different bike. Maybe if you can, see if you can grab one for this trip. The reason I say this is because I noticed your bike has that dual suspension setup. Those setups are whack on "cheaper" bikes (and by cheaper I mean sub-700 bucks). That suspension setup is going to tire you out in the long run. If you single suspension bike in time, try to tighten the piss out of that rear spring.

it's only 37 miles, not even that bad. I was actually thinking about biking across country, 25200 miles one way, I'm not sure if I'll have time to do it though. Or I'll even make it.

Agreed. I don't know how we survived those hard plastic seats as kids!

Now I go to Walmart and buy the biggest gel seat that they have. Usually like $30. I have them on all our bikes.

Like a big ol' banana seat??? :dblthumb:

You'll soon carrying so much cr@p with you, you might need a car to haul it. :chuckle:
Something else to consider, if your route includes any public roads, you might want not to carry all of water for the entire trip with you (weightis your enemy on a bicycle). Perhaps instead, you take just a few water bottles and plan to stop at a convenience store or gas station at a strategic town and buy a couple of already chilled ones during a break.

Its HOT out. This banana split tastes like PERIWINKLES AND MAGIC. I've never been so relieved to be at a Super 8 with a Dairy Queen next door.

Everything hurts. The shower I just took was like a monsoon after a long drought.

I missed the train so I'm just going to sleep here and head home tomorrow.

I didn't see, was this ride for leisure or was there a task?

Sign of rank amateurism. Those huge-a** seats end up doing all kinds of terrible things to your hips. Good seats should be small, and firm. Your a** adapts.

I got pretty sick of pedaling after 30 miles. I'm going to stick to cycling around the lake.

I'd like to do this Missouri Wine Country tour again in the Saab, or a scooter, or anything that allows wind to rush by my face without having to move my legs.

I might bribe my brother to pick up the Saab at the trailhead and come get me.

Otherwise, I'll be Amtraking it. The station is 2.8 mi from my hotel. We'll see tomorrow if I feel up to cycling across this little town.

fail.

maybe try again later?

or just get a damn exercise bike and watch TV while you pedal.

I'd be less likely to run you over this way...just a little less though.

I gave away my treadmill. It was so effing boring walking on it while waiting for time to pass, even with the TV in front of me. Like masturbatlon with no climax.
