ok im having trouble deciding betweentein basic coilovers vs. KYB adj. + tein s tech springs.basic coilovers are around $800 and the kyb adj w/ tein stechs are about 420+150=570, for the difference between the 2 i can also pick up a set of sway bars... i have a 96 240sx and it's daily driven but hopefully soon w/ this new suspension i will hit some amateur autox just for fun, so which set up is the best choice for me?

oh yea i forgot to add the dust boots for the kybs.. so that's $40 extra. i tihnk I'm leaning towards the tein basic simply because it should perform alot better.

the basic kit wont let you adjust dampening force though, the AGX"s do...

i like the basic kit for people who wont need the adjustability, and just want to be able to do hieght adjustments...should work well.-chet

yea but I planned the set up for under $800-900, so if I get the tein coilovers getting the sway bars would be out of my price range - I have heard nothing but good stuff about the ST sway bars and I would really like to try them out. oh 1 more question, are the dust boots really recommended?

Kind of important to know what you want from a rear sway bar! Exactly how many pounds of extra resistance per inch [wheel rate] do you want to add: 10,20,30,40, 50,60, 70, or 80 pounds per inch of diffferential deflection?What/how much do you want the front rear coupling ratio to change/ be?

Spend some time understanding the mathematics/physics of what you are trying to accomplish. Just throwing parts at something without a plan. Everything can be modeled and the exact changes calculated in advance within 5%.Stretch your mind as everything has been discussed in detail on NICO.............search my posts on Q handling and mods. The rear suspension on 240, 300zx, J30, Q45 is very similar.........even the spring rates are within 20% heaviest to lightest.

If you really want coilovers, but don't want to spend $800, look at these:http://www.az240sx.org/forums/...=4120It is a group buy being organized by musicsurfman. You have to register to see the page tho. His thread here on NICO is:http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....38639

Another option are the NISMO S-Tune coilovers:http://www.performancenissanpa...id=88

Have fun.

http://www.japanparts.com/ has specs on nismo parts.

i try to buy anything i can adjustable, my coilovers are height and dampening adjustable so im less likely to 'outgrow' them (i can also order softer/stiffer spring replacements, and have the shock rebuilt) and you're less likely to throw off your balance if you are able to adjust front to rear roll stiffness, front to rear height.

And here's the specs on the D2 coilovers. These are the ones being sold in the group buy for $600 as rico05 mentioned

Quote »D2 Shock Abosrbers are formed in whole piece that including springs and top mount. There are 3.5kg/mm ~18kg/mm of springs could be chosen. It uses aluminum materials to reduce the weight. The length of shock absorbers can be adjusted to fit the best ride high. That is to adjust the main of shock abosrber in this way, the noise and uncomfortable driving can be avoided. This function also satisfy different customers requirements of handling and comfort.[/quote]

That means choose your spring rate, as well as 36 way adjustable(thats what their site says)

being able to adjust the ride height independent of the spring perch allows you to corner weight, or adjust height in general without affecting spring preload settings, the d2's have that
