i plan on painting my car... my question is what grit size should i use to sand the car down with before i prime the whole car.. the front i think i should use a scotch bright pad and just rub the front end since i just did the kouki front end and i got all the parts from dealer so there is no paint on it. correct me if im wrong.

Wet sand all of the new parts with 1000 grit. Sand all of the other parts with 220 or 400 before you shoot primer. If the paint is in decent shape there is no reason to prime the whole car just wet sand with 400 or 600 and spray primer sealer right before you lay down the base coat.

Agreed (although he could just go over the car with an orbital sander and 400 grit). I'm also gonna add this....be sure to scuff (or sand) the edges! Paint will easily start to peel there if that isn't taken care of.

Also...since it wasn't suggested, be sure to wash the car and wipe it down, etc., to get rid of all the left over dust and crap that's on it before you start spraying the car.

As for the new parts...are they just panels with the factory primer on it? I'd say go over it with 400 grit as well. But if you are gonna go over the new parts with a scotch bright pad, I would use the more "agressive" one.
