Is finding the TDC necessary for when i remove the rocker shafts? If it is how can i determine taht it is infact the compression stroke TDC. i will have the valve cover off since im replacing hte gasket. I see alot about the DOHC and its cam lobes pointing outwards. So im assuming TDC for me would mean the rocker arms both dipping down for Piston #1? THanks

On a SOHC motor it is NOT necessary to set the motor to TDC on #1 cyl. The rocker shafts come off separately without disturbing the cam.

awesome thanks! as for bleeding the rocker pistons, a little pin and aalot of oil should do it right. what if it is seized? would i have to get replacements or can i somehow manage to unseize it. also, some people said bleeding the air out and unseizing them is not a permanent solution. is that true?

Soak the lifters in a container full of motor oil while using a pin. If a lifter is seized up, replace it.
