Hey guys I have been doing a lot more long distance traveling with a new job I just started, and I’m putting together a list to hopefully improve fuel mileage, and want everyone’s input about what I’ve come up with. I don’t want to spend too much cash, and want to replace things that will actually make a difference. Here’s what I have so far:

O2 sensorsFuel filterAir filterSpark plugsKnock sensor

Anything major I’ve left out? Do you think the above will actually make a difference, or not worth the investment? I’ve been putting about 1,000 miles a week on the J30 so even an additional 5MPG would really help out with the costs of traveling. Thanks!

Raise your tire pressure to 35 psi or so.

Buy a Civic Hybrid

(Nothing you do the J is likely to raise your MPG by 5.)

Brand new this car was only good for 20-22 mpg on Octane 91 fuel or higher.

Factor in age and this vehicle is probably good for 17-19 mpg on Octane 91 fuel or higher.

If you want better fuel economy, save your cash and find yourself a fuel efficient 4 cylinder.

Yep even more PSI like as much as the tires will take will help. Smooth accl. up to highway speed (hard on 128/95) then set cruise at higway speed limit. Let everyone else buzz around you and enjoy the best the car can do in MPG.

Only 20-22? I got almost 26 on my last tank (little more highway than city). Must be that shiney new-ish engine.

It is pretty nice. I only got 24mpg on the last tank though, so...yeah.

To the original poster - Maybe run seafoam through it? I'm told it will smooth/clean things out, it might improve your mileage a little bit.
