new to the sight tonight, i drive a '97 hardbody xe 5spd 4cyl.. and drive 50k plus a year delivering pizza and parts( new gig 1-2 nights a week). i now have 290,500 miles on an all original motor(bought at 35k). i put a k&n on top at 140k and switched to royal purple (actually cheaper than conventional when done like a fleet change) i am getting 24.75 mpg w/o a/c, and 22.5 with a/c has anybody got any suggestions for any more mpg. do tornado's add anything, or twisted throttle bodies? if it adds .5 mph or better i am interested. drive everywhere/ go nowhere harry the pizza dude, a.k.a. harrofthedog

Basic tune of sparkplugs and wires would give you better power and response, than the tornado.... Turbo would give you better mileage if you kept of the gas... but your a pizza delivery guy... ...

This should be in the KA forum not the KAT forum. No biggie, I'll move it for ya. This forum is for turbo's etc.

I will give some insight into gas mileage. The motor is a vacuum basically. The harder it has to work the more fuel it will eat. So by freeing up airflow in and out you'll improve power and gas mileage.

You could try using a SAFCII to lean out your fuel mapping as well. Welcome to NICO BTW.

The 1.6 gets 43 mpg? thats pretty friggin good. That means it'll get 30 or so with boost. Not a bad mix...

The Tornado has been tested by Car Craft and a few other places. It's always shown to increase gas mileage. in a FI application, it will be an obstruction.

The Tornado creates a venture effect on the incoming air. In turn smoothing out the airflow helping to create a denser aircharge.

Yeah the 1.6 get 43 mpg.... it gets about 41 now that i put the intake and header back exhaust on it, but if it wasn't for the fact that the damn thing is a death trap it would be a pretty good little commuter car.... or pizza delivery car
