ok I know the whole sleepy eye topic has been beat to death, but I searched the forums and can not find what I need. I need to know what color wire do you hook the gray wire up to on the ten pin harness or the headlight timer unit, or in other words what color is the wire that is the 12V. constant....? any knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Gray......?

yellow.......body/harness side pink & black wire

black ..........connector side pink & black wire

red ........ground

yea i know crazy, but that is what the directions say.. and yes I have searched endlessly, and found numourous sleepy eye articles, but none that are any help to my specific situation...the directions from pivot tell you what wire go where except they don't tell you which wire is the 12V constant to the battery....I broke my voltmeter or else I would have just checked it. I also spent time thumbing through my Svc. manual with no avail.

So as an update I went out and bought another current tester, and now I am even more confused, because the only time I got any current from any of the wires is when the lights were on... yet the instructions say that there is supposed to be a 12V. conststant?...and the wire that the directions say to cut (pink/black) I get no current ever. If anyone has installed this unit I could really use some help. I attached a file of the directions the red and blue pin and the orange pin are the ones that I got current off of not the pink one as the diagram indicates...I know it doesn't call it pink but it says first wire from the right on lower side of connector and that is the pink and black one...anyways Thanks!

You want to know where the grey wire goes? The 12v+ constant is going to the ignition switch. The white wire at the ignition switch is constant 12v+.

The english is terrible. Its a multimeter not a current tester. You are not testing current. You are testing voltage.

To test for 12v+constant. You put one probe on ground and the other probe on the wire. If you get 12v , you know wire is 12v+.

I dont think i have seen a fuse in the ground wire before.

ok so basically screw what these crappy instructions are saying, and just find the 12v+ constant. What I bought was a 6-12v circuit tester. The kind that has the alligator clip for the ground, and the LED pin that you touch to the wire...I bought this because pivot sends you a little crappy tester with the unit that is just an led with a long wire attached to it. Wow once I figure this out I will make sure to do a write up on this little kit of horrors. Thanks for your help vancouverbc

Ok I did successfully hook the pivot headlight controller up...No thanks to the instructions. If you have purchased the pivot headlight controller throw the directions in the garbage, and use my walkthrough I posted.
