ok so this noise is not there when i cold start the car, but when its warmed up it makes it at idle (above link) and also when the car is cold it doesnt come on nearly as easily as it does when its warmed up, so it has something to do with oil temp/pressure.

now also the noise goes away when i floor it or go into high throttle, but when i cruise it clatters, when i let go of gas it stops clattering. on freeway i kinda drive gas no gas gas no gas to keep it from clattering haha

i tried listening to it all around and i cant seem to locate the exact place..

Pull the valve cover off and check your cam shaft chain guides. Its to slow to be lower end. I am thinking its a chain guide for the upper chain.

both upper chain guides are off.. i put the top one on cause i thought maybe its slapping against the head but that just added a different sound to the rattle and didnt change the rattle sound at all really

i replaced both tensioners with my old engines' because that one had no rattle at all... this motor has less miles so the guides were actually in much better shape then my old ones, so i only replaced the right side lower guide cause the old one sat a bit loose.

thats why im stumped

its upper end by the sound as it is slower then the crank would sound. To be honest I am hearing several different noises in your clips, but I target the one that sounds most out of place. It could very well be a sloppy valve. Have you done a clearance check on your shils yet? See if any are to wide.

havent done anything with valves... what do you mean you are hearing many different noises? lol dont tell me something else is wrong

but yeah ill pull the valve cover and check the shims when i get a chance.. wouldnt the valves be making the noise all the time tho not just when theres light load?

Typically yes but the noise is coming from the top end so cam and valve inspections are needed since you already determined the guides and tensioner are ok.

One of the other noises I heard sounded like an incredably loud injector ticking away or a spark plug arching out.

btw the engine sat for 6 months b4 i put it in my car, it had oil in it though and i put fresh oil in b4 i started it.. and cranked it for a while as well, so i think i didnt rough anything up with that. just thought i should add that in if it could be important. i did use my intake and exhaust manifolds though, and b4 my injectors werent super loud really

the noise definately seems to be coming from the exhaust side of the engine, at least its more noticable there than on the intake side.. i need to get one of those listening thingies cause using a screwdriver doesnt seem to help much

ok i just pulled the cams out and checked shim clearances.. they are all in spec! (engine was cold though) all were under 0.41mm, and i guess things only get hotter if they warm up so it should b ok

btw, if i pull the spark plug out of cylinder 2 the noise seems to stop.. i just tested that

Its number 2 cyl then. either rod bearing, piston slap, or wrist pin. there is another thread I discussed that pretty thuroughly.

after the car warms up it seems to make the noise whether the cylinder is running or not... does this point to anything more specific?

No now it actually doesnt make any sence at all. If it was a mechanical failure and it were to change as the car warmed up it should get quiter and less noticable since metal expands as it gets hot. It should not be more prevelant and continue to make noise with that test.
