Piston Rings?

I have a 90 240sx with 181k. Did a compression test and got 177 for cyl 1-3, and 150 for cyl 4. I'm guessing it's the piston ring due to the white smoke from the exhaust. I've changed head gaskets on my miata, but never a piston ring. What all is involved? Also how hard is an engine mount to change?

Thanks

white smoke = burning coolant (usually) = headgasket leaking, sounds like you need to replace your head gasket

oh, then it could be your rings, normaly i would say your valve stem seals, but since it has loss of compression then it could be rings. look at s13sr20chris gallery, as he had a ring faliure that still drove fine (although not the same kind im sure)

ring replacemetn is quite in depth as far as engine work goes

yeah, rings are major engine work. if you can do a headgasket you can prob do rings. the big thing is you need something else to drive. you cant just rering a motor over a weekend(at least notexpect it to go so well). its usually a good idea to do the bearings and t-chain while you are in there.
