how much work goes into fixing a broken piston ring?

does blue smoke coming out of the valve cover breather mean that i have a broken piston ring?

how much would that cost roughly at a shop to fix for a blacktop sr20det s13.

i need to know how much so i can sue the guy who sold me this engine with a broken piston ring

It's not an easy fix. Pistons are one of the last things that get removed during a tear down.

You should get a leakdown test done to verify it is a busted piston and not a leaky valve seat.

From the looks of it, though, you've had this car for some time with the motor in it. Has it always done this, or is it a new occurance? One thing to remember is that you did buy a motor that came from a junkyard.

it was like this the day i got it, i just didnt realize it until now. hopefully it is just a valve seal...

the guy said he had been building the engine for himself for when his engine blew up. so i assumed that he had taken real good care of it. guess not!!!

imma end up suing him, i just know it!
