Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I'm dropping in another N/A Motor with Stock Pistons soon. My Question is if I put KA24E Pistons in can I use the DE Piston Rings on the E Pistons since they are already broken in.

Will it work...yes. Is it reccomended, NO.

IF the new pistons are the same GRADE as you old ones (either 1, 2, or 3)...and you use the rings in the EXACT same order and cylinder as before...then it should hold good compression.

But that is NOT the right way to do it...although it might work just fine.

What grade pistons do you have...what's the block stamped for? They MUST match.

Let me repeat...they MUST match, same grade for piston bore and piston.

Will the Grade matter even if I'm swapping Stock DE Pistons for E Pistons. I'm getting a KA-T Block built so I don't want to spend too much on my N/A Motor.

Then you should quit right now because your raised compression is going to make you spend more money in the near future.

The basic rule is you absolutely have to match the stamped grade on the block (unless it has had work done in the past) with the piston and the correct rings. You may go one grade up, but you have to get the cylinder machined to support it (that = money, so its right out).

Getting used pistons is one thing, but as it was said before, re-using rings after removing them would not be something you should ever try.
