I fully built my SR this winter. Including JE pistons. Well last weekend I removed the engine again. After tearing everything off I finally got to the oil pan and found 3 of the oil jets broken off sitting in the bottom of the pan. I then proceeded to take off the upper pan, sure as hell the fourth one was broken as well. After some further investigating I found that it was the skirt of the JE piston that had taken out the oil jets. Is this common? I know a guy that builds hondas and he usually just plugs the holes for the oilers. But this isn't exactly a honda. I have called JE and they said that they would call me back, but (sarcastically) to my suprise they havent. Dont you think that when they build these things that they could take into account important parts such as oilers?

not common. This is actually the first time I've heard of this issue. Didn't you give the crank a few turns by hand when you were assembling the bottom end?

Yea, didn't think so. Yea i did turn the crank around man times and everything seemed alright. I think that the skirt is too long by a few thousandths or some really small amount that just kept hammering on the oilers until they just gave way to the constant hammering.

Yea it does suck. How much would you want for the 2 squirters if you have them??

Surprisingly there isn't any damage to the piston. Thats a plus to the situation.
